چکیده

We study the problem of detecting a change in the mean of one-dimensional Gaussian process data. This problem is investigated in the setting of increasing domain (customarily employed in time series analysis) and in the setting of fixed domain (typically arising in spatial data analysis). We propose a detection method based on the generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT), and show that our method achieves nearly asymptotically optimal rate in the minimax sense, in both settings. The salient feature of the proposed method is that it exploits in an efficient way the data dependence captured by the Gaussian process covariance structure. When the covariance is not known, we propose the plug-in GLRT method and derive conditions under which the method remains asymptotically near optimal. By contrast, the standard CUSUM method, which does not account for the covariance structure, is shown to be asymptotically optimal only in the increasing domain. Our algorithms and accompanying theory are applicable to a wide variety of covariance structures, including the Matern class, the powered exponential class, and others. The plug-in GLRT method is shown to perform well for maximum likelihood estimators with a dense covariance matrix.

A robust wavelet based profile monitoring and change point detection using S-estimator and clustering

Some quality characteristics are well defined when treated as response variables and are related to some independent variables. This relationship is called a profile. Parametric models, such as linear models, may be used to model profiles. However, in practical applications due to the complexity of many processes it is not usually possible to model a process using parametric models. In these cas...

Bayesian Estimation of Shift Point in Shape Parameter of Inverse Gaussian Distribution Under Different Loss Functions

In this paper, a Bayesian approach is proposed for shift point detection in an inverse Gaussian distribution. In this study, the mean parameter of inverse Gaussian distribution is assumed to be constant and shift points in shape parameter is considered. First the posterior distribution of shape parameter is obtained. Then the Bayes estimators are derived under a class of priors and using variou...

Detecting Markov Random Fields Hidden in White Noise

Motivated by change point problems in time series and the detection of textured objects in images, we consider the problem of detecting a piece of a Gaussian Markov random field hidden in white Gaussian noise. We derive minimax lower bounds and propose near-optimal tests.

Identifying the change time of multivariate binomial processes for step changes and drifts

In this paper, a new control chart to monitor multi-binomial processes is first proposed based on a transformation method. Then, the maximum likelihood estimators of change points designed for both step changes and linear-trend disturbances are derived. At the end, the performances of the proposed change-point estimators are evaluated and are compared using some Monte Carlo simulation experimen...

Change-point Detection for Lévy Processes

Since the work of Page in the 1950s, the problem of detecting an abrupt change in the distribution of stochastic processes has received a great deal of attention. In particular, a deep connection has been established between Lorden’s minimax approach to change-point detection and the widely used CUSUM procedure, first for discrete-time processes, and subsequently for some of their continuous-ti...
